Good morning and welcome everyone!

My name is Kristín Ósk Hlynsdóttir and I am the chairman of Félag um skjalastjórn or the Icelandic Records management association. IRMA for short.

On behalf of IRMA I welcome you all to this long awaited conference about Information Governance.

I will continue addressing you all in English so our English speaking guests will understand. I am sure that the icelanders won´t mind.

For my opening I watched a 3 minute video from a dated ARMA expo where around 30 people were asked about their favorite Records Management  joke. None of them could give an example. The next question was what it is it that makes records management so damn sexy and the answer was – people like us! (And of course I wholeheartedly agree)

This will be a fantastic day as all of our speakers are experts in their field and we feel very lucky that you were able to be with us today.

We can all agree that information is the most valuable asset in any organization and we all know there are many possibilities to do better in managing and protecting information and getting staff on board with us.

Today we will learn how we can evaluate our status in relation to information governence, where  we can go and after today we will have many tools and ideas to help us to get there

I urge you to use this oppertunity to ask our experts questions and remember there is no such thing as a stupid one! I also urge you to use the breaks to connect with other people and widen your professional network.

And finally – I want to thank the conference organization commitee and my fellow members on the board of IRMA for their hard work to make this day possible.
